Q1. Add the following 4-bit binary numbers.
i. (0110)2 + (0101)2
ii. (0101)2 + (0101)2
Add the following 8-bit binary numbers
iii. (01001110)2 + (00111100)2
iv. (10011101)2 + (10001111)2
Solution.
i. (0110)2 + (0101)2 = (1011)2

Q2. Draw the symbol for XNOR & X-OR and explain the truth table? 5+5
Answer.
X-NOR Gate
The XNOR gate is a digital logic gate whose function is the inverse of the exclusive OR (XOR) gate. The two-input version implements logical equality, behaving according to the truth table to the right. A HIGH output (1)

Q3. What are adders? Explain half adders and full adders with circuit diagrams. 2+4+4
Answer.
Adders
For single bit adders, there are two general types. A half adder has two inputs, generally labelled A and B, and

Q4 What is ring counter? Explain it working with the help of diagram. 2+2+6
Answer.
Ring counter
A ring counter is defined as a loop of bistable devices (flip-flops) interconnected in such a manner that only one of the devices may be in a specified state at one time. If the specified condition is HIGH, then only one device may be HIGH at one time. As the clock, or input, signal is received, the specified state will shift to the next device at a rate of 1 shift per clock, or input, pulse. Figure below, view A, shows a typical four-stage ring

Q5. Explain the concept of resolution in digital and analog multi meters. 5+5
Answer.
Resolution
Digital
The resolution of a multimeter is often specified in "digits" of resolution. For example, the term 5½ digits refers to the number of digits displayed on the readout of a multimeter. By convention, a half digit can display either a zero or a one, while a threequarters digit can display a numeral higher than a one but not nine.

Q6. What are shift registers? Explain serial in serial out shift register. 4+6
Answer.
Shift registers
Shift Register is a group of flip flops set up in a linear fashion which have their inputs and outputs connected together in such a way that the data is shifted down the line when the circuit is activated. Shift registers can have
